It had a nice ‘knowing’ smile and red cheeks. The mask is not scary at all… why it’s the most beautiful mask that I have ever seen. The moment I saw the mask face on the newspaper I knew something wonderful is in stored for this movie. The word is Italian, and originates from the Latin vindicta, “vengeance.” Mature audiences is the target audience, but it is a film that teens and adults alike will enjoy.Oh Wow! I watched V for Vendetta last Friday night and I got to tell you this: It was wonderful!!! You just couldn’t miss it for life. The film is very underrated by getting two stars. This is my second favorite film of all time. Also, the lines between good and evil are blurred, and it’s up to the audience to determine who is the protagonist and who is the antagonist, between V and the government. There are also positive messages, the most important one being to stand up for what you believe in, even if it means hatred or death from others. Teens may need guidance from their parents in order to understand the storyline, but the violence isn’t explicit enough to be only for adults. It’s not a film that only adults can handle. There is a little bit of swearing, but it’s not too terrible. You are exaggerating by giving it an age recommendation of 18+. It is one of my most favorite films of all time! I also love the Guy Fawkes mask and researching the history behind it. This is a very powerful film that really makes you think. If a 10 or 12 year old watches it with a parent, who is appropriately developed themselves (which is not always the case), the kid asks questions to their parent and the parent will ask questions while the movie progresses. I believe, it is silly to say that one must be 14+ to understand concepts and motives. So how does one man ignite a tsunami of action to overturn such a horror? Through violence, of course, not voting. The story is set in the extreme conditions where people are deprived of basic rights, have no proper food, their private deals and conversations are spied on and eavesdropped on a governmental level. V is a deep multilayered character, he is confused in his own means, and he questions them, so he is not a "terrorist" in a way most people interpret this term. The 2 main characters go through a reformation of the kind peculiar to them. The main character, V, reconsiders his rage and desire for violence, reconsiders his life agenda BECAUSE he experiences love for the first time in his life. Today this is a word that is blatantly deployed in all contexts while preventing people to understand the motives. It has layers, it has romance, it carries the idea, it involves fantastic, talented actors, it gives people important things to ponder over. Now, as for the story and implementation. The question is whether an underaged is able of realizing the depth and the aesthetic of the story. And again, it's not about the violence or rape attempt. So, judging for what age group this film is appropriate is really individual. It will impress, for sure, I watched this movie when I was 19 and it left an imprint on my psyche, but, again, the Internet today is full of shit and kids, with every next generation get old and mature way faster than kids from every previous generation. Yes, they might not yet be capable of comprehending the depth of the story due to the insufficient life experience and the immature sense of judgement, however, a properly educated 12 year-old growing up in an educated family will not be traumatized by "violence". A properly developed 12-year old is capable to understand the basic concepts of rights and rules. Violence is spoken a lot about but as if today there's no compelling or otherwise sufficient scientific evidence proving that movies with violence contribute to kids or teens to become violent. It explores the actions people take (supporting it, accepting it or resisting it or fighting against it). Ultimately, it's a political film about extreme governments and their players: from the head of the government on down public workers. Some of it is generalized, like what you would see in any action film or video game with guns, and some of it is up close (the context is revenge), so, its disturbing, but not gory (some blood, no guts). Showing this in the political context is important. The torture is emotionally intense, but limited. There isn't any on-screen sexual violence, but the threats of it are present, as in real life. (But if your child is interested in these topics he/she may really enjoy it.)Ģ)Sexual violence/Torture. Themes that might be harder for kids under 14 to understand. That said, I would recommend it for older teens for the following reasons:ġ)Complicated politics: involving corruption, intrigue, sabotage. The photography, dialogue, intrigue, action, musical score and special effects are excellent.
